BANIOS
The approximately 20.000 inhabitants in Banios live at the foot of the volcano. The volcano is called Tungurahua, also known as the "The Black Giant", and it's on a plateau that's surrounded by mountains. The volcano heats the water and the water is used in the natural springs that give Banios.
Banios is a wonderful getaway for tourists. Travelers to this area enjoy hiking and admiring the majestic volcano, Then, relax in the popular hotsprings or visit The Basilica church and its famous murals. You can also choose to study Spanish, there are language schools in the area that provide great opportunities if you are traveling througout Ecuador and South America.
PAPALLACTA
There are wonderful thermal springs and plenty of adventure opportunities to enjoy. Here you will encounter wild, high-altitude moorlands great for hiking and horseback riding, as well as a first-class spa and hot-springs resort. Papallacta is the perfect place for those seeking nature, adventure and relaxation.
Papallacta lies 67 kilometres from Quito. To get there, you head out through the capital’s lower valley of Cumbayá before climbing up and up to a pass 4,064 metres (12,000 feet), before winding down again to the town at 3,120 metres (10,200 feet). You can take a bus heading to the Amazon (Coca or Tena) to the town. From there, you can walk from the crossroads (a good half-an-hour) or else pay for a ride.

PAPALLACTA SPRING TOURS ( 1 DAY)
A 6 hour tour that begins as we pass through the valley of Tumbaco and reach Papallacta, famous place for its thermal water pools. We trek for approximately two hours from a private cloud forest reserve where we admire the beauty of nature; we can watch several species of flora and fauna, mainly birds. If you wish, instead of walking, the visit can be done by horse. After the trek we head back to the thermal waters and enjoy a delicious bath taking advantage of the medicinal benefits that this spring offers. We have lunch at this tourist complex and head back to your hotel in Quito.
BANIOS TOURS (1 DAY)
A 9hr:
Tour South of Quito, driving through the avenue of the volcanoes, passing by Latacunga and Ambato to stop at Yambo volcanoes crater lake and Salasaca's village (textiles and hand embroidered crafts). We reach Baños (subtropical town), where we visit the cathedral, stop for lunch at downtown Baños and visit the thermal baths. Finally, we continue our trip to Agoyan waterfalls and El Pailon del Diablo (Devils cauldron) waterfalls where we hike for 90 minutes and return to Quito.
BANIOS TOUR (2 DAYS/1 NIGHT)
DAY 1:
7am pickup from hotel, stopping for breakfast at colonial hacienda La Cienega (built 1675). Drive south through the avenue of the volcanoes to an authentic Indian market. Depending on the day we will visit a market at: Latacunga (Tuesday and Saturday), Pujilí (Wednesday and Sunday), Saquisilí (Thursday) or a visit to Cotopaxi National Park. Both include lunch at the inn Rumipamba de las Rosas and a visit to Yambo volcano crater lake. Finally, we arrive to Baños (subtropical thermal baths town). Overnight at: 4* (H. Sangay), 5* (H. Luna Runtún), 5*+(H. Luna Runtún luxury room with private balcony).
DAY 2:
"Priests and Witches" morning trek to La Cruz (panoramic view of Baños), In Baños we visit the cathedral, the balsawood birds carving workshop, the tagua (ivory nut) jewelry, stop for lunch at a side walk restaurant and visit the thermal baths. Later we continue our trip to Agoyan and Devils cauldron (amazing waterfalls), visit the Salasaca's Indian market and return to Quito.

Overnight at: 4* (H. Sangay), 5* (H. Luna Runtún), 5*+ (H. Luna Runtún luxury room with private balcony).
DAY 3:
